The 5 Best Chase Business Credit Cards for Travel | Each Offers $1000+

chase business credit cards

Some of the most lucrative signup bonuses of all credit cards come from Chase business credit cards. Chase, hands down, offers the best small business credit cards of any bank. They have both great rewards and great card benefits. Some of the Chase business credit cards even have valuable travel benefits. One of the Chase business credit cards even has the BEST SIGNUP BONUS available out of ALL credit cards; personal or business.

In fact, Chase credit cards have such good signup bonuses that if you have a business I would recommend them over most of the personal cards. There are 5 different Chase business cards that are currently offering signup bonuses that are valued at over $1000 according to our Reward Points Value page. The Ink Business Preferred has a signup bonus worth a whopping $1600 worth of travel, making it the best offer for ANY credit card!

Let’s go ahead and take a look at all five cards to see what else they offer besides tons of points for travel.

Chase Business Credit Cards with Signup Bonuses Valued at Over $1000

As we mentioned, there are currently five Chase business credit cards that are offering signup bonuses of at least $1000 in value when used for travel. That’s incredible but not unbelievable, as Chase is known for having some of the best offers in the credit card industry. Three of these cards earn transferable credit card points in Chase Ultimate Rewards and two of them earn airline miles. The great thing about earning Ultimate Rewards is their versatility. They can be used in the Chase travel portal or transferred to airlines and hotels through Chase transfer partners.

Earn Free Travel From Your Business Expenses

Yes, all of these Chase business credit cards have excellent signup bonuses, but that’s not the only thing they offer. On top of the great signup bonuses, they offer fantastic rewards bonuses on for purchases made in certain business categories. Most of these cards have bonus categories for spending that could make a lot of sense (and a lot of points) for your business. In certain categories, these cards offer up to 5X and 3X points per dollar.

Some of the rewards category bonuses that I frequently take advantage of, are: 3X rewards for advertising on social media platforms (facebook ads, google ads, Instagram ads, Pinterest ads) from the Ink Business Preferred credit card and 5X rewards on office supply stores, internet, cable and phone services from the Ink Business Cash credit card. PS: Office supply stores happen to have a plentiful gift card selection… Wink, wink. Earning 5X at office supply stores means that there is the potential of earning 5X points on almost all purchases that your small business makes.

Our thoughts about this business travel credit card:

The Introductory Offer is one of the best we’ve seen for any credit card.  It’s a surprise how much value they give for a credit card with only a $95 annual fee.  We have this card and love the benefits.  We used the introductory offer bonus to purchase two round-trip flights to Hawaii, and still have 30,000 points left over.  That’s pretty impressive in itself.  On top of that, the spending category bonuses are worthwhile for most online businesses.

Our thoughts about this business travel credit card:

Receiving this large of an introductory offer bonus on a no annual fee credit card used to be unheard of.  Now Chase has two of them.  I see this card as an excellent supplemental credit card to go along with the other Ink credit cards.  Because it earns 1.5 points per dollar on ALL purchases, it’s great for those purchases that don’t fall into a category bonus of the other cards.

Our thoughts about this business travel credit card:

Southwest’s reward booking process is by far the easiest to maneuver of all airlines.  Their points coincide with the dollar price of flights so you can get a great deal when they have sales.  I’ve flown round-trip for fewer than 7,000 points before.  The introductory offer bonus can go a long way.  Also, the introductory offer currently counts towards earning the Southwest Companion Pass, which is the absolute best deal in the traveling with points world.

What Makes the Chase Business Credit Cards the Best?

  • Signup Bonus Values: Obviously, a large portion of the value in these credit card offers comes from their signup bonuses. When using the Travel Freedom points value chart, we found each of these signup bonuses to be worth over $1000 in travel value.
  • Rewards Earning Potential: These Chase business credit cards have reward earning spend bonuses in categories that are commonly used by businesses. For this reason, it’s actually easy to earn bonus points through purchases.
  • Travel Benefits: Lounge passes, travel insurance, priority boarding, and waived baggage fees are a few of the travel benefits that make these cards even better.
  • Annual Fees: While some of these cards have annual fees, the benefits and rewards far outweigh the annual fees. Plus, most of the above Chase business credit cards have waived annual fees in year 1.

I have personally applied for and been approved for multiple business credit cards using both types of identification numbers.

Firestone Credit Card Review (BONUS: 3 Better Alternative Credit Cards)

A vehicle is prone to break downs and sometimes there isn’t anything you can do to prevent that. Since it’s your safety and the safety of your family on the line, vehicle maintenance and repair isn’t optional, it is a must. Depending on the make, model and age of your car, even routine vehicle checks, and maintenance can prove to be costly. If you aren’t prepared, car repairs can derail your budget and make it hard for you to manage other important expenses. Fortunately, if you’re a frequent Firestone customer, there is a Firestone credit card.

The Firestone Complete Auto Care credit card may make it easier for you to cope with unexpected vehicle-related expenses. If you always have your car serviced by Firestone, you could consider getting their credit card. To help you decide whether Firestone Complete Auto Care card deserves to be in your wallet, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of Firestone credit card and everything you can get from this card.

Firestone Credit Card

Firestone Complete Auto Care card is a store card which means that you can only use it on Firestone purchases. The special financing offer is the main reason people usually get it, but it isn’t the best option for many because of deferred interest.

Special Financing

Only one special financing offer is offered by the Firestone Complete Auto Care card. You don’t have to pay any interest if you pay the amount in full within a period of 6 months. However, it applies to only on purchases of $149 or higher. After the interest-free period, a 28.80% fixed APR is charged.

This offer might seem decent, but it isn’t all that great when compared to other cards that provide interest-free periods of 21 months. Plus, there are several cards that don’t come with deferred interest.

Differed Interest Can Be a Problem

Not all store cards charge a deferred interest, but some do. Deferred interest allows you to take advantage of special introductory financing options. But, if you don’t pay the amount before the interest-free period is over, you’ll have to pay interest on your purchases/repairs starting from the day the purchases/repairs were charged on your card. This means you could end up paying handsomely in interest if you fail to pay in full by the end of the promotional period. To avoid the deferred interest on Firestone credit card, the balance must always be paid in full within the promotional period.

Special Deals and Monthly Coupons

As a Firestone Complete Auto Care cardholder, you’ll receive special deals and monthly coupons that can only be used at Firestone. If you undergo car maintenance at Firestone alone, you could benefit from them and save a few bucks on vehicle-related expenses. However, the deals and monthly coupons won’t do you any good if you don’t always go to Firestone for vehicle maintenance, repairs or to purchase a new set of tires. Moreover, the deals and coupons aren’t as good as the rewards and cash backs that are available with most of the other store credit cards.

Firestone Credit Card Login Information

You can easily manage your Firestone Complete Auto Care card account online. Register your card at the Credit First National Association (CFNA). You’ll be required to provide your Social Security and credit card numbers. Once registered, you’ll receive the login details for your account. Sign in to your account to manage it. To make payments, click on “View Payments”. Next, select the amount you wish to pay. Payments can also be made via mail or phone.

Is the Firestone Credit Card Right for You?

Nobody likes to take their vehicle for maintenance or repairs as it can be expensive. Paying a large amount of money at once is difficult and it can derail your budget. The Firestone credit card may help you in such a scenario, especially if your car has broken down and the repairs are going to be extremely costly.

firestone credit card

You could avail the special financing option that comes with the Firestone Complete Auto Care card to spread the cost of car repairs over time. You’d be eligible for the offer if you make a purchase of at least $149 and pay with your card. You’ll be required to pay off the repairs or purchases within a period of six months. However, as we discussed earlier, there’s a catch. If you can’t pay off your balance in full within the period of six months, you’ll be charged interest on the full purchase going back to the date of the purchase. You’ll also have to pay interest if you’re late with payment. So, the special financing offer could make you fall in debt if you’re not careful. Firestone Complete Auto Care card could be right for you if you’re good at making payments on credit cards.

Besides the special financing offer, Firestone credit card lack benefits. There are no rewards, points or cash backs. However, you’ll get special discounts and coupons as a cardholder like tire rotations or oil exchanges.

If you don’t have a good credit history and want to improve your score, you could use the Firestone credit card as there’s no annual fee and it’s easier to obtain it. On-time payments will help increase your credit.

However, if you have a good credit score, there’re plenty of other credit cards to consider. Many credit cards offer cash back and rewards and come with longer promotion periods. So, make sure to consider all the options before you decide to get a Firestone credit card.

An Alternative Card

Travel Freedom Card Art Size

There are plenty of alternatives for you to consider if you aren’t satisfied with what Firestone credit card has to offer. One good option is from Wells Fargo. Their Platinum Visa card offers an introductory APR offer on balance transfers and purchases for a period of 18 months. After that, the variable APR switches to the normal rate. You also don’t have to pay an annual fee on the Wells Fargo Platinum Visa Card.

Our Last Thoughts on the Firestone Credit Card

You can benefit from the in-store special financing offer on Firestone Complete Auto Care card. But, since there are no rewards and cash backs on the card, it won’t help you save much in repairs and purchases from Firestone. You could get rewards and cash backs from other credit cards and save more than a few bucks on car repairs and car-related purchases.

Firestone Complete Auto Care card could be a good option for you if you usually struggle to pay your car-related expenses in one go or if you want to use it to rebuild your credit. Otherwise, we would suggest you search the market for better credit cards that can actually help you save money.

The 3 Best Alternative Credit Cards to Consider

Wells Fargo Propel Fees

Right away you will see that this credit card does not have an annual fee. This is great as it makes it as easy as possible for you to sign up for the card without it being a financial burden. There are not many other travel rewards credit cards on the market that offer you this experience. Most of the best cards have annual fees of $95.00 or more, so it is easy to see that this one is a particularly great offer.

Aside from this, you will also be able to take advantage of a good introductory APR period. Being able to avoid interest for a 12-month period of time is quite nice. This is good for both new purchases and balance transfers, as well. You can potentially use this credit card simply as a balance transfer credit card to save yourself some money if you are in need.

This is an appealing travel credit card due to the lack of foreign transaction fees, as well. If your travel regularly has you leaving the country, then you want to be able to avoid foreign transaction fees at all costs. Having to pay a percentage of the purchase price of items in the form of a fee is an annoyance. This card helps you to avoid that, and it makes it so that you will have a more convenient experience overall.

Features of the Wells Fargo Propel Card

For the most part, the features of this card are fairly standard. What stands out the most about this card is that the rewards program has the potential to be very lucrative. You will be able to earn points at a high rate with this card, and this is going to be the reason that you will look into applying for it. It is one of the best cards for purely earning points, and it has various useful benefits, as well.

It is worth talking about the big sign-up bonus that you can take advantage of. Spending a certain amount of money within the first three months of owning the card will net you some extra cash. This is fairly standard among credit cards of this type, but the bonus is actually really good here. It is not a sole reason for a person to sign up for the card, but it is a nice bonus that should be very attainable if you plan on using the card with any sort of regularity.

Benefits of the Wells Fargo Propel Card

This card does come with many different benefits that you can enjoy. Before proceeding, you should know that this card does not offer many of the same benefits as other travel credit cards. You will not be gaining access to any special lounges at the airport or getting any perks related to TSA PreCheck or Global Entry programs. If those types of benefits matter to you, then another travel credit card may be more to your liking.

The perks that this card can offer you are a bit more standard, but they are still useful. You will have access to travel accident insurance in case something goes awry during your trip. Luggage protection insurance will also be very handy for regular travelers. If your luggage is lost during your trip, then you can be reimbursed through the card.

Other standard perks include roadside assistance and car rental coverage. Your credit card will give you access to roadside assistance for when you break down in your car on the road. The car insurance will kick in when you need to rent a car. The card can act as secondary car insurance coverage to help you out.

The best benefit of signing up for this credit card is the cell phone protection that it offers. You can get up to $600 if your cell phone is damaged or stolen. The deductible is only $25.00, so this is definitely a very useful little perk that will come in handy in many situations. In order to qualify for this, you need to pay your monthly phone bill with the credit card.

wells fargo propel card

Rewards Program Info

This credit card has a very good rewards program structure that will help many people to earn a lot of points. You will be able to earn 3X rewards points when you spend money on several different categories. The categories that will earn you the 3X rewards points are travel, dining, gas stations, and popular streaming services. The travel category is fairly broad, too, with it encompassing flights, car rentals, hotels, taxis, and more.

Even the dining category is more robust than you might expect. Many travel credit cards only offer bonus points on restaurant dining, but this card is different. Ordering delivery food is also covered under the 3X rewards amount, so you will have plenty of options when you are traveling. If you want to make the most of your new rewards credit card, then this will make it as easy on you as possible.

Spending outside of these categories will allow you to earn a simple 1X rewards rate. Of course, this means that it is best to stick with the bonus categories when using this credit card. Regardless, you will still be able to earn points no matter how you wind up using the card. It is practical for just about anyone to use the card for their needs and the rewards are going to come in at a steady clip.

Best of all, these bonus categories are completely uncapped. This means that you can earn the increased rewards rate of 3X no matter how often you buy these things. Some comparable credit cards cap your spending and reset the rewards rate to 1X after you meet a certain threshold. This is not the case with this card, so you can continue to earn those great rewards if you are a big spender.

Redeeming the rewards should always be a simple process with this card, too. You can choose to redeem your rewards for travel purposes, or you can go for gift cards, cash back options, or even charity donations. If you happen to also have a Wells Fargo Visa Signature Card, then you can use that card’s portal to book your travel. It will allow you to earn a 1.5% rate on redeeming your points, so you can maximize your potential rewards if you make these cards combine forces.

Whether you choose to do this or not, you will still be getting a good card. Your rewards potential with this credit card is really high, even when you just straight up redeem the rewards as normal. You will be able to create a steady flow of rewards points if you use this card for travel purposes on a semi-regular basis. Those who travel frequently could really make this a lucrative card, so keep it in mind as a good option for your wallet.

The Pros

  • High rewards rates
  • No earning limits
  • Good redemption options
  • No annual fee
  • No foreign transaction fees

This is a card that has the potential to help you earn a lot of rewards. The high rewards rate is going to work out great for you if you regularly spend money in the 3X bonus categories. Being that the bonus categories on this credit card are so broad, you will have a pretty easy time taking advantage of them. This can allow the rewards to add up fast, and you will be able to take advantage of this quickly after becoming a cardholder.

There are not any earning limits being imposed on you, either. You will be earning the 3X bonus rewards rate on the specific categories no matter how much you spend. Many credit cards cap your 3X bonus rewards potential after you have reached certain spending thresholds, but that is not the case here. You will always earn the 3X bonus rewards points on the special categories, and you will get 1X rewards points on everything else.

The redemption options for your rewards points are very good, as well. You can redeem your points for cash back, gift cards, travel, and even charity donation. If you want to book travel, you can try to pair your card with other American Express offerings to increase the redemption rate to 1.5%. Either way, you will have a simple time redeeming your earned rewards for things that matter to you.

You won’t have to put up with any sort of annual fee while you are using this card, either. No yearly fees make it easier for you to justify signing up for the card. It is easy to make use of this card, and you won’t ever feel like it is costing you money in any way. This is a very customer-friendly card that pleases a lot of people each year.

The lack of foreign transaction fees makes it perfect for anyone who travels abroad, as well. If you regularly travel outside of the country, then this might be the best travel credit card to keep in your wallet. Avoiding fees is great, and you will always be able to use your card when you need it. It is nice to not have to worry about fees like this while you are out of the country on some type of business trip.

The Cons

  • Lacks benefits when compared to other travel credit cards
  • American Express may not be accepted in as many places as Visa or Mastercard

Depending on your expectations, you might be a bit underwhelmed with the benefits of this credit card. Some of the better travel credit cards offer you significant benefits when you are traveling. You can usually gain access to airport lounges and get various types of preferential treatment. This is not going to be the case when you are using this credit card.

The benefits of the Wells Fargo Propel credit card are still good, but they may not match up with your expectations. If luxury airport lounges and VIP status at hotels are things that matter to you, then you may wish to look into other travel credit card options. There are plenty of different cards out there that may better match up with your needs. If you just want to earn lots of points and have a nice standard travel credit card, then this will fit the bill.

You also need to know that American Express is not accepted in quite as many places as Visa or Mastercard. American Express is still a large credit card company and is very reputable. Even so, Visa and Mastercard are more prevalent around the world. You may need to check to see whether certain places accept American Express before proceeding with purchases, so keep that in mind when making your decision.

Credit Score Needed for Approval

Much like many of these travel credit cards, you are not going to be able to gain approval if you do not have a good credit score. A credit score that falls between good and excellent will be necessary to add this credit card to your wallet. If your score is sitting at 690 or higher, then your approval chances should be pretty good. Try to check your credit score first before you decide to apply so that you can avoid any disappointment.

Who Does The Propel Card Appeal to Most?

The Wells Fargo Propel is actually a credit card that will appeal to just about anyone. It is a card that you can use effectively to earn rewards on a variety of different purposes. It probably appeals to people who travel at least somewhat often the most. Even so, people who only travel occasionally will be able to use this card effectively, too.

If you want to be able to use a credit card that offers you increased rewards rates in several great categories, then this one will work out well. Being able to earn 3X rewards points on travel is nice, but you will also be getting 3X points on popular streaming services, gas station purchases, and so much more. It makes it practical for most people to rack up the rewards points reliably.

This is a good card for beginners to the rewards card lifestyle, as well. It does not have an associated annual fee, meaning that signing up for the card is fairly straightforward. You do not have to use this card enough to justify paying for a hefty annual fee, so you can basically use it as you see fit. You’ll even still earn rewards on purchases that aren’t in the bonus categories, just at a rate of 1X instead of 3X.

Apple Credit Card Review: Made for Apple Enthusiasts

apple credit card review

The Apple credit card is great for paying at Apple Stores. However, as far as other transactions are concerned, you must keep other credit cards as well. Keeping this card is worthwhile since it has no annual fees. If you are a huge Apple fan and buy a lot of their products, this may be a good card for you.

Zero Interest Finance Option

The Apple card has zero interest finance options for eligible Apple product purchases made inside 30 days of getting your account opened. If you choose to use this option, you will have to make sure that you pay the full bill by the end of the promo period or else you may end up being charged with interest. Since this offer is valid for up to 30 days (after opening your account), you should look towards other zero interest credit cards after the expiration of 30 days if you want to enjoy zero interest finance options.

Minimum Point Level

One limitation is the reward threshold. You will get points for every purchase that you make with this card at the Apple store. Your points are automatically redeemed each time they cross 2,500. You will then receive an iTunes or Apple gift card which has a value of $25. Therefore, you will have to wait for your points to cross the 2,500 level before they can be redeemed.

The card has a good reward rate for making purchases at the Apple store and also for dinging out. But if you use it to buy groceries or to spend at a gas station, you will get a very modest 1 percent cash back reward. For such purchases, it will be wise to keep some other card that offers better rewards.

Barclays Visa with Apple Rewards Features and Benefits

The basic reward structure is this: you will get points for every purchase made with this card at the Apple store which can then be redeemed to obtain Apple gift cards. You will earn 3 points for each dollar that you spend at the Apple retail store, at Apple.com, the iTunes store or 1-800-MY-APPLE. You can also earn 2 points on each dollar that you spend at restaurants and just one point for each dollar that you spend anywhere else. From the reward structure, it is clear that the Barclays Visa with Apple Rewards credit card is best for Apple purchases and good enough for dining out. It is not terribly attractive for other purchases but then you have several options for cash back rewards credit cards that will give you good returns for these types of purchases.

apple credit card

No Annual Fees

With the Barclays Visa with Apple Rewards credit card, you will earn attractive rewards for making purchases at the Apple store. Since it does not have an annual fee, you don’t need to use this card too frequently. With annual fees, you have to earn enough rewards so that they breakeven with the annual fee. Even if your hard earned rewards are in excess of the annual fee, they are greatly diminished by the annual fee and this makes the card unattractive. You can use this credit card at your own discretion and enjoy peace of mind.

Gift Cards

Whenever you earn 2,500 points, an iTunes or Apple gift card worth $25 is automatically sent towards you. During your application, you may specify whether you would like to receive an Apple gift card or an iTunes gift card. You cannot use your accumulated points in any other way.

Interest-free Purchase Financing

Besides earning rewards, you can use the Barclays Visa with Apple Rewards credit card to obtain interest-free financing. This card may be used to finance Apple store purchases interest-free. Keep in mind though that this offer is open only for purchases made within 30 days of opening your account.

You cannot decide the time duration of the payment period. The financing period is determined by the price of the credit purchase that you made. Here is the list of finance period durations based on purchase price:

  • For purchases under $499, finance period is 6 months.
  • On purchases that range from $499 to under $999, the finance period is 12 months.
  • For purchases that go from $999 to $1.499, the finance period is 18 months.
  • On purchases that amount to $1,499 and above, you will enjoy a finance period of 24 months.

As long as you pay the full amount of your purchase by the end of the finance period, you will not have any interest on this type of financing.

However, if you make a late payment or fail to pay the full amount of the purchase, then you will have to pay interest that begins from the date of purchase. In such a case, the interest rate that will be charged to your account will be equal to the credit card’s standard APR.

Comparing the Apple Credit Card to other Cards

While the Apple credit card is great for Apple purchases and for dining out to some extent, it is lacking in other areas. Here is how you can solve this problem:

Chase Freedom Unlimited

The Barclays Visa with Apple Rewards will offer zero-interest finance only for those Apple purchases that are made within just 30 days after your account has been opened. It is quite possible that you are looking for zero-finance option after the expiry of the 30 day promotion period. The Chase Freedom Unlimited credit card has an introductory APR offer option that can help you in your purchases for a longer period of time. It will serve you well for a longer period of time than what is offered by the Apple credit card.

The Chase Freedom Unlimited credit card provides a long introductory APR period. On top of that, you’ll start earning rewards immediately. The card offers a signup bonus and also earns 1.5% cash back (in the form of Chase Ultimate Rewards) on every purchase.

A card that earns rewards on more than just Apple products might make more sense for you. It really depends on how much you really shop directly with Apple.

How to Apply for the Barclays Visa with Apple Rewards Credit Card

  • Go to the Apple credit card page.
  • Click ‘continue’. You will then go to the Barclaycard web application page.
  • Fill in the application form. Barclays can send you a reply within 30 seconds, although certain applications may require more time.
  • You can now shop immediately at the Apple Store once this card has been approved. You must have an Apple ID to use this card.

Our Last Thoughts on the Apple Credit Card

The Barclays Visa with Apple Rewards credit is a must have for die-hard Apple fans. But you will also want to keep other credit cards (mentioned above) to cover you where this card is lacking.

Amex Blue Business Cash Card Fees

Knowing the different prices and fees that are associated with a credit card is very important. It is going to play a role in determining just how appealing this credit card is to your business. Thankfully, this one comes across as being particularly good in the fees department. You will not have to pay any type of an annual fee when signing up for this credit card.

The lack of an annual fee is also buoyed by the fact that this credit card has a decent introductory APR offer. For the first 15 months that you are a cardholder, you will be able to enjoy a special APR on purchases. This does not apply to any balance transfers that you may be interested in making, though. Even so, it is always good to be able to avoid interest for as long as possible.

There are a few fees that you will need to watch out for when using this credit card for your business. One of the most potentially annoying fees is the foreign transaction fee. Every foreign transaction that you make will come with a 2.7% fee attached to it. This may not matter to some businesses but for people who travel abroad frequently, it may wind up being a huge detriment.

Late fees are very reasonable with this credit card overall. You will need to pay a $38 maximum late fee when it is called for. This makes it a fairly good card when it comes to fees. The foreign transaction fee is not too unusual and the other fees are within normal ranges, making it nothing that will turn many people away from wanting to sign up.

Features of the Amex Blue Business Cash

There are several beneficial perks that will make it a little more tantalizing to sign up for the Blue Business Cash. Many of the benefits of this credit card are somewhat standard but there are a few of them that stand out as being really useful. For example, you will be able to receive valuable baggage insurance when making use of this credit card. It helps to protect your baggage when it gets lost, damaged, or stolen.

Being able to replace the baggage when it gets lost on an airplane, train, ship, or bus will always be simpler with this card. The baggage will be covered so long as you purchased the fare using your credit card. This coverage is secondary so it will wind up covering the cost of the bag that is not picked up through the carrier’s insurance coverage. Coverage does have limits, though, so you can expect to be able to get $1250 for a carry-on bag and up to $500 for checked baggage.

Your credit card is also going to be able to provide you with travel accident insurance. This will give you up to $100,000 in coverage due to dismemberment or accidental death while on a trip. In order to qualify for this coverage, you will need to travel with a common carrier and charge the entire ticket price to your credit card. It may feel as if it is a strange perk to talk about for some but it is good to have this coverage in the event of an accident.

Another common benefit that you can take advantage of is purchase protection. Damaged or stolen items that have been charged to your credit card in the last 120 days are covered by this perk. You will be allowed to claim up to $1000 for each item and you have a maximum of $50,000 in claims that you are allowed each year. These protection benefits are quite nice and will allow you to feel a bit safer when purchasing things for your business.

Extended warranties are offered when you purchase items with this card as well. Many warranties will be able to be extended for up to two years when you purchase an item with this credit card. This works on eligible warranties that are up to five years. It’s a convenient feature that your business may be able to get quite a bit of use out of.

One of the most useful perks is that you get free employee cards. As a business owner, you know that you will sometimes need to empower employees to make purchases on behalf of the business. Being able to get free employee cards makes it easy to give the cards out to your trusted employees so that business can go on as normal. The process of getting employee cards is simple and this will be very convenient for you overall.

amex SimplyCash Plus

Rewards Program

The rewards program is going to come across as a bit polarizing for some people. This credit card offers good rewards but there are certain credit cards on the market that have higher rewards potential. It really depends on what type of purchases your business makes on a regular basis. If you are able to use this credit card to its full potential, then it is very easy to justify giving this card a shot.

You can earn 5% cash back at U.S. office supply stores as well as on purchases made on wireless telephone services in the US. This 5% cash-back rate will be good for the first $50,000 that you spend in a category year. Once you have reached the limit, you will revert to earning cash back at a 1% rate. Even so, this offers businesses quite a bit of rewards potential.

The Amex Blue Business Cash business card actually offers you a pretty flexible experience when it comes to picking your bonus categories too. You will be able to earn 3% cash back on one category of your choosing. There are many different categories to pick from so it is possible to choose one that you spend a lot of money on regularly. Some of the many categories that you can choose include U.S. restaurants, U.S. gas stations, airfare purchased directly from airlines, U.S. advertising purchases, and much more.

As you may expect, the 3% bonus category is going to have a cap placed on it. You can expect the same $50,000 annual cap on the 3% bonus category. Once the cap has been reached, you will be earning cash back at the 1% rate. All purchases made in other categories will earn only 1% back as well.

The annual category can be changed out to a different one during the annual selection period. If you do not take the time to change it, then it will continue to remain the same. This does mean that you have to be somewhat proactive if you wish to stay on top of managing your credit card rewards. It is not difficult to accomplish but you just need to know that you have to initiate changing the category during an allotted time.

Redeeming your earned rewards is always going to be fairly straightforward as well. You will simply be receiving statement credit automatically on your account. This credit will show up on the second billing statement after earning the rewards. Some may find this rewards redemption option lacking in versatility but others will like how easy it is to use.

The Pros

  • No annual fee
  • High rewards potential in many categories
  • Introductory APR
  • Simple rewards redemption structure

Being able to sign up for a business credit card that has no annual fee is certainly quite useful. You can justify signing up for this credit card without having to worry about paying for the privilege. You will have access to many useful perks without the need for a high fee. This is a good business credit card that stacks up to many others that are on the market that have much higher fees.

The high rewards potential of this credit card is going to be what makes most people give it a look. This card allows you to earn 5% cash back on office supply purchases and wireless telephone services in the U.S. Being able to pick a single bonus category to earn 3% cash back on is very useful too. The rewards will start coming in at a high rate when you make use of this card regularly.

You can also enjoy a nice 15-month introductory APR period. Those who like to have a little bit of extra incentive to sign up for a card may be pushed over the edge by having access to this APR. It helps you to save a bit of money when carrying a balance for the first 15 months. Note that the introductory APR is only for purchases made.

The simple rewards redemption structure is also very appealing for many businesses. You will not need to worry about figuring out how to maximize your rewards potential through redeeming points in a special way. You just earn statement credit by purchasing things with the credit card. Rewards points redemptions do not get any simpler than this.

The Cons

  • The rewards program may be a bit complex.
  • Changing rewards categories have a limited window of opportunity.
  • There are foreign transaction fees.

There are also going to be many people who think that this credit card has a rewards program that is too complex. If you want a simple-to-use credit card for your business, then this one may not be the best fit overall. It can offer you pretty good rewards potential but it requires you to really pay attention to get the most out of it. This will not be for everyone and you need to be able to figure out if it will work well for your business.

Changing reward categories is actually kind of difficult too. If you want to change your 3% bonus category then you will only be allowed to do so during a specific time each year. If you miss this window of time then you will be out of luck until next year. This has the potential to be very frustrating and could sour your experience just a little bit.

Having to put up with foreign transaction fees is always negative as well. If your business has you traveling outside of the country regularly, then this is not going to be the most practical card for you. The foreign transaction fees associated with this card are not higher than usual but the fact that they are there is going to be bad for some. Remember this before signing up if it will impact you in any way.

American Express SimplyCash Plus

Credit Score Needed for Approval

One potential downside to this credit card is that it is going to require a very good credit score. If you have a credit score of 690 or higher, then you should have a good chance of getting approved for this card. Those who have lower scores will likely not be eligible. It is always recommended to take the time to check your credit score before applying for a new credit card.

Who Does the Blue Business Cash Business Card Appeal to Most?

This credit card is going to appeal to several different types of people. It is going to be helpful for businesses who buy a lot of office supplies. If you regularly purchase office supplies, then you will be able to earn 5% cash back on all of those purchases. It is easy to take advantage of this and it can help to alleviate some of the costs that you encounter on a regular basis.

It is also a good card for people who like to have choices. You get to choose the 3% cash-back category that appeals to you the most. It allows you to ensure that you will get the best rewards potential out of this credit card. This card can work great as an everyday business credit card for many types of businesses due to the diversity in the bonus categories.

An Alternative Card to Consider

One good potential alternative to this credit card is the Ink Business Preferred Full Disclosure: We may earn a commission if you click this link, at no additional cost to you. credit card. In some ways, the Ink Business Preferred card is going to be superior. It offers 3X points on up to $150,000 in spending per year. It offers great travel rewards and comes with many different perks that are more worthwhile than some of the perks offered by the Blue Business Cash Credit Card.

Decision Time: Is the Amex Blue Business Cash Right for You?

The Blue Business Cash Credit Card from American Express is a good option for many businesses. If your business has significant office supply expenses, then it definitely makes sense to have access to this card. It will offer you great rewards potential in that category while allowing you to choose another category to earn 3% cash back. This card is nice and simple in some ways while being a little complex in others.

As long as you want to receive statement credit, this is one of the better business credit cards to consider. It has no annual fee and it allows you to earn cash back in many great categories. It should work great as a primary business credit card for everyday purchases or as a secondary one. Consider signing up if your business can truly take advantage of what this credit card has to offer.

This is not going to be an easy credit card to get for many businesses due to the high credit score requirement. Even so, it is a potentially stellar option. Do not be afraid to try this one out if you qualify for it. It has proven to be a popular option among many businesses and it may work out great for yours too.

The Pros

The Potential Cons

  • It’s only available to business owners (including sole proprietors).
  • The annual fee is not waived.

Our Overall Thoughts on the Chase Ink Business Preferred

The Chase Ink Preferred is our favorite overall card. Business or personal. It earns travel rewards points that can be used to get a lot of free travel. We absolutely love this card for its enormous introductory offer (valued at $1600) but also find it great for its other benefits and rewards. If you have any type of business (even a sole proprietorship such as a reseller, garage sale host, eBay seller, offer a local service, etc) you should consider adding this card to your wallet. It pays off big time!

As online business owners, we also find the rewards categories to be very helpful in earning more points. Reward bonuses include things like shipping, online advertising, and phone/internet service. If we’re earning 3 points per dollar and redeeming at a reward points value of 2 cents per point, that means we’re getting a 6% return on our expenses if we use it for travel. Pretty impressive returns, I’d say.

At Travel Freedom, we value this cards introductory offer at around $1600 if redeemed for travel. For more information on this card, you can read our full Chase Ink Business Preferred review.

No Annual Fee

If you pair this card with a primary Chase Ultimate Rewards card (Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, Ink Preferred) you’ll be able to combine points and access the Chase transfer partners as well as get better redemption rates in the Chase travel portal. This is part of what makes all the Chase Ultimate Rewards cards so great. You’re able to transfer points between different card accounts to redeem at the full potential value.

The Chase Ink Cash card offers a large introductory offer that Travel Freedom values at around $1000 when redeemed for travel. As mentioned, Chase Ultimate Rewards points have airline and hotel transfer partners available, but they’re only accessible to primary Ultimate Rewards cardholders.

The things that really make this business card stand out are the introductory offer, the non-existent annual fee, and the 5X rewards categories. It’s unheard of for a card with no annual fee to have such a highly valued introductory offer. We value it at around $1000 if you have a primary Ultimate Rewards card to transfer the points to for travel redemption. On top of this, you’ll earn 5X rewards on office supply stores, cell phone service, and internet/cable. Maybe that office supply store even sells gift cards to other merchants you spend money at… For example, if you’re getting 5X rewards on your expenses and then redeem those points for a value of 2 cents per point, you’ll be getting a 10% return when used for travel.

Big Lots Credit Card Review (BONUS: 3 Better Alternative Credit Cards)

big lots credit card

Big Lots is a national retail chain that is on the Fortune 500 list, carrying the most popular name brand items that we as Americans absolutely love. This company opened its doors in 1967 and has constructed approximately 1,445 stores across 47 states since then. Wow. Known for selling living room sets and general everyday household items, this store has the full package for a person hitting the road or simply wanting to refurbish their home.

Because of Big Lots’ huge success and extensive history, and the fact that this store carries everything a person needs, there is now a Big Lots credit card available for loyal customers to purchase things without paying upfront. Step into our world so we can show you everything involving the very interesting Big Lots credit card.

Finally Getting A Big Lots Credit Card

So, you are in the market for a new credit card. Maybe you need an extra boost when emergencies pop up or maybe you just want a credit card from a store that you shop from often. Travel Freedom will discuss everything you need to know about the Big Lots credit card. After reading this, you’ll know whether to get this card or maybe a different card with more versatile benefits.

The Big Lots credit card is the perfect companion when the funds get tight. It hops up and saves the day because there is No annual fee. That alone is a huge benefit for people like us because we genuinely dislike those extra fees. I know I do! In fact, let’s take a look at some of the great features that the Big Lots credit card offers:

  1. No annual fee – You have more time to pay off the balance.
  2. Special member offer – For loyal customers who pay their bills on time.
  3. Flexible financing – The company will work with you if you are in a temporary financial bind and need some time to pay off the balance. You are only qualified for this benefit if you make a qualifying purchase.

Check out the Physical Condition of the Big Lots Credit Card

Let’s rotate the Big Lots credit card around like it is on display at a museum to analyze its special physical features. The front top half has a solid black color, but the words “Big Lots!” are in a large white font – almost jumping off the card’s surface into your face. Pretty cool?

The bottom half, separated from the top half by a straight line, is all orange with your unique credit card number along with your first and last name on the front. Additionally, if you turn the card to the back, you will notice that it has all the traditional markings of a credit card, including the black magnetic strip that processes the payments and the CCV numbers. Nothing’s special there. Just like any other credit card, it can easily slide inside your pockets or wallet.

Everyday Purchases with the Big Lot Credit Card

The Big Lots credit card is a good and safe way to make everyday purchases, including on snacks, hygiene products, outdoor stuff, entertainment devices, or anything else you can think of that will help out with your trip. That means you should not be without any basic necessity while on road. The Big Lots store has an assortment of necessary goods, and luckily there are many of them across the country; mostly in or around the major cities. So, when you are approaching these metropolitan areas on the expressway, bust that right or left turn on the exit ramp and ask OnStar, Siri, Alexa, the magic 8-Ball, or even a genie in a bottle for the directions to get there.

Anything and everything that you can think of is on the shelves at this store. Many Big Lots customers frequent this store just for the everyday sales, so you will not feel alone getting a discount with your Big Lots credit card. Getting a Big Lots credit card is ideal for making really big, expensive purchases because you do not need to pay a high interest rate.

What Are The Numbers & Fees Looking Like For The Big Lots Credit Card?

The purchase APR is 29.99%, which is pretty high for a credit card. After partnering with Progressive Financing, the Big Lots credit card allows you to buy furniture as well. That is a huge benefit for people starting new lives in new cities. So, you would not need to pay a high interest rate in a case like this. A Big Lots credit card gives me the financial means to act on those impulsive, but necessary decisions.

Think about it, you can fully furnish your new apartment without paying a cent anytime soon. I always travel for spiritual reasons. When my gut tells me to go; I go! However, if I do not have the financial means to depart from my current situation, then my fate has been sealed. That’s the way I look at things.

How else can credit cards make money without charging these fees? They are necessary. The minimum interest is 2%, but you will not need to pay interest on purchases of $250 or more if you pay the balance off within 6 months. Moreover, if you pay off your big purchase that costs $750 or more within 12 months, then bye bye interest.

big lots credit card review

How Can You Apply For a Big Lots Credit Card?

Great question. First, you need to have a credit score of 650 to 840. If you do, then you are in the ball game.

Just visit the Big Lots website and click Apply Now, or call the store and they will direct you to the proper customer service representative to complete the process. The card is issued by Comenity Capital Bank; a bank that issues many big store credit cards. This will be the financial institution that determines whether you are eligible to get the card. You will really need to appease them, sire.

Like with any credit card, there are minimum monthly payments that you are required to pay. One unique aspect about this card is that if you happen to forget it at home, no worries. You do not need to turn around and drive several hours to get your Big Lots credit card. The clerk at the store can look up your account information on their computers and apply the purchase. Say hello to cashless and plastic-less payments. This credit card is best for anyone who needs everyday things for travel.

What About The Rewards Programs?

People love the idea of getting rewards for their purchases. However, Big Lots will not sign you up for the rewards program unless you apply. It is called the Big Lots BIG Rewards and can work with your Big Lots credit card. The rewards program gives you $5 with every three purchases and $10 on every $200 spent. You will also get random shopping deals and various coupons. If you plan on spending a lot at Big Lots, then you will save a lot with the Big Lots credit card!

Anyone is eligible to sign up for the rewards program. Just make sure to stay on the lookout for the random special offers that are often sent unannounced. When those offers come rolling into that email, make sure to click the links and take advantage because they are scarce. Your credit line can always increase upon making a request, which would be a reward to you.

Where Can You Use This Card?

You can only use this card at Big Lots stores. It cannot be transferred to other brands. However, Big Lot stores usually carry everything you need so there is no need to shop anywhere else. Right?

Well, if you’re someone who doesn’t ONLY shop at Big Lots, there might be better credit card options for you. We’ll go through the best alternative credit cards in a bit.

What About Paying That Daunting Bill?

Daunting bill? Really? Well, come to think about it, we all know how daunting paying a bill can be. However, it does not have to be a grueling task anymore with the Big Lots credit card. The company allows you to pay your bill by phone. Just call the customer service number at 888-566-4353, create the inquiry, and voila – your bill is paid. You could also send a money order in the mail from the currency exchange or post office. Personal checks or cashier’s checks can be used for payment as well.

Big Lots Credit Card Login Information

You can always view any payment or billing inquiry 24/7 online by logging into your account after applying for a Big Lots credit card. Just set up an account with a username and password. Just so you know, this card is linked to a real bank account; therefore, you can go to the Comenity Bank’s website to retrieve this information. Everything is legit on both ends. Just enroll and view.

What About Those Annoying Late Payment Fees?

Sometimes the Big Lots credit card late payment fees can reach up to $38, even on a returned payment, which is very high. However, if you are a responsible person (we know you are), then you can avoid this penalty. Just stay careful of what you spend and keep track of when you pay your bill.

More about the Sign-Up Process

You be asked to provide the following information after signing up for the card:

  • Valid government issued ID
  • Last four digits of your social security number to verify your identity and determine your eligibility
  • Date of birth
  • Zip code

When the card gets issued, it will take 7-10 business days to arrive in the mail after the approval process completes. You can always go online 24/7 for account management and get a paperless bill if you prefer to save the planet.

Fees of the Chase Ink Business Unlimited

Of course, when it comes to signing up for a new credit card, you want to know about any prices and fees right away. One of the most appealing aspects of this card for any small business owner is that it has no annual fee. This makes it easy to make use of this card without having to worry about paying out money for the privilege. This is great news for anyone who is looking for a new business credit card that is cost-effective.

It is not all good, though. One negative thing about this card is that you are going to have to put up with foreign transaction fees. Depending on how your business is structured, this will either not matter at all or it will be a big deal. Keep this in mind when you are making your decision about this card, as the fees are a bit of an inconvenience for some.

Otherwise, all of the fees are very much in line with other small business credit cards. This comes in as a very good option due to the lack of an annual fee. If you do not do business outside of the country often, then the foreign transaction fees will not wind up being too much of a problem for you. There are many rewards cards on the market that are very complicated. Sometimes, business owners do not have the time to micromanage every little aspect of their rewards points. If you consider yourself to be a busy professional, then the features of this card will really appeal to you. It offers you a rewards structure that is simple enough to be practical for the busiest of individuals while also giving you great flexibility.

For example, this credit card can be paired with higher tier Chase rewards credit cards if you have them. This gives you the potential to increase your rewards points and to maximize your rewards potential. You do not have to do this to have a good experience with this card, but it is a helpful feature that some will love. The rewards are going to come in steadily no matter what and your card will always be helpful to your business.

Another positive feature is that this card lacks any type of spending categories. This really does help you to keep things simple and you won’t have to worry about how you are spending your money. A flat rewards rate across all types of purchases will appeal more to certain businesses. If you spend your business funds on a variety of different services, expenses, and goods, then this card likely makes sense for you.

Benefits of the Card

There are several good perks that you will be able to take advantage of when you sign up for this credit card. Purchase protection is one of the benefits that you will likely get a lot of mileage out of. This is a standard benefit that covers your purchases within the first 120 days in case of theft or damage. You can claim up to $10,000 on an individual claim and are allowed $50,000 of claims per account.

You will also find that many warranties of US manufacturers will be extended for you when you hold this card. There are many eligible warranties that can be extended just by using this card. Having products that are within warranty for an extra year at no additional cost can be a really great thing. This is a benefit that flies under the radar, sometimes, but it is actually exceedingly useful for small business owners.

Renting a car for business purposes will be easier with the help of this credit card, too. If you want to do so, you can decline the rental car company’s collision insurance and just use the insurance of this card. It is going to give you primary auto rental collision damage coverage that will work out nicely. You will be covered by your card completely up to the cash value of the car in case the car is stolen or damaged in some way.

One last important benefit is that you can have employee credit cards issued at no additional cost. If you need to hand out credit cards for your employees to make important purchases on behalf of the business, then this will be very handy. You can avoid extra fees and get the credit cards that you need into the right hands. You can give them purchasing privileges that are equal to you or set up a spending limit on certain cards.

Earning Chase Ultimate Rewards Points

The rewards program for the Ink Business Unlimited credit card is simultaneously simple and robust. The first thing that you should know is that this rewards program lacks any type of bonus spending categories. This is preferable for many people, as they do not always want to have to stick to certain types of spending to feel like they are using the business credit card to its full potential. You will be getting a flat rewards rate no matter what types of purchases you are making.

This card has a flat cashback rewards rate of 1.5% and it works on everything. You will not need to be concerned about bonus categories or anything of that nature. It allows businesses to simply use the card as they see fit and the rewards will come in naturally. The reason that this program is still considered to be robust is that it has the potential to be paired with other high tier Chase rewards cards.

If you have a Chase Ultimate Rewards credit card, then this credit card can be paired with it. If you choose to forego getting the cashback reward, then you can transfer it to points and wind up earning a higher rewards rate. This is not necessary to enjoy using this card, but it is an option for people who use multiple Chase credit cards. Knowing that the cards can pair could make this credit card a more attractive option for some business owners.

Even when you are just using the standard card, you will be able to redeem your rewards in several ways. The most common and appealing way is to receive your 1.5% cash back on your card. It is also possible to receive the money in the form of gift cards or through other services offered by the Chase rewards program. It will always be simple to use your earned rewards and they can help your business to thrive.

The Pros

One of the biggest pros of this credit card is just how simple it is to use. This is a credit card that aims to keep things easy for busy business owners. You do not have to be bothered by the cumbersome rewards structures that some other business credit cards use. This has an easy to understand flat cashback rate on all purchases.

Being able to pair this card with higher tier Chase rewards cards, if you want to, is a great feature. It gives you the potential to earn more rewards but also allows you to keep things simple. This card can be versatile for your business and it will always be capable of earning you rewards on purchases. There are no rewards earning limits or anything of that nature.

To add to this, you will not be paying any annual fees. Being able to save money by not worrying about fees such as this will be useful to your business. A card with such a great introductory offer with no annual fee is rare.

Combine all of the above with the good benefits of this card and you have a very attractive business credit card that will appeal to many businesses. You will be able to run your business smoothly when you have access to a high-quality credit card such as this. It really does work nicely to make your small business experience easier. Even aspects of this card such as purchase protection and extended warranties go a long way toward helping your business out.

The Cons

  • Foreign transaction fees
  • Not the highest flat cashback rewards rate possible
  • Lack of spending categories

The only negative thing about this card that is undisputed is that the foreign transaction fees can be a pain. You will be paying a three percent fee on foreign transactions and this could hurt your bottom line. If you regularly do business outside of the country, then this card might not be optimal. It just depends on your situation and whether you are comfortable with this fee percentage.

Aside from that, some people will note that there are business credit card options out there with a slightly higher cashback rate. If you are looking for the highest possible flat cashback rate on a credit card, then you may want to turn elsewhere. This is still a card with a good rate, but it is not at the very top of the heap. Many people choose this card due to the Chase affiliation making it possible to earn higher rewards by being paired with other cards.

Certain businesses will lament the lack of spending categories, too. This means that you will not be earning any special bonuses for using your credit card in certain categories. If your business spends a lot of money on travel, then you might be better off seeking a travel rewards credit card for your business. This is going to appeal more to businesses that don’t want to worry about bonus categories, but that won’t be optimal for every business out there.

Credit Score Needed for Approval

To be approved for this credit card, you are going to want to have a good credit score. A score of 690 or above should give you very good odds of being approved. You also need to be a qualified small business owner to get this card. Many types of business owners will qualify, so it should not be overly difficult to get this credit card if your business meets the standards.

Note that even freelancers are considered to be small businesses by many standards. If you meet the credit standards and feel that your small business should qualify, then it will be worth applying for the card. It is a good credit card that can help your business to earn steady rewards while having access to proper funding. It is not overly difficult to get this card, but just check your credit score before applying to ensure the best results.

It offers a simple rewards structure that is perfect for busy professionals who just want something that works. You can make use of this credit card to its full potential rather easily and it offers many positive features.

A credit card such as this is also going to work well for anyone who has other Chase credit cards. If you have been using Chase credit cards for a long time, then you may have access to one of the higher tier rewards cards as well. You can pair this card with those higher tier rewards cards if you want to. This can allow you to earn higher rewards rates and will prove to be a selling point to many loyal Chase customers.

Mastercard Gold Card Fees

In order to be comfortable with applying for this credit card, you are going to have to come to terms with a very high annual fee. The annual fee is currently set at $995 for this card. This is one of the highest annual fees that you could expect to pay. The high fee is supposed to be justified by offering you luxury travel benefits and a bit of a rewards program.

Luxury credit cards are known to have very high annual fees so this may not come as a surprise to some. Regardless, this is a fee that is higher than many other luxury credit cards. MasterCard themselves have other luxury credit cards in the line with annual fees that are only around half of what this card costs. You may have a hard time accepting the annual fee being this high so it is automatically going to be an impractical credit card for most people.

Also, if you are going to be adding users to this credit card account, then it is going to cost you money. You will have to pay an extra $225 for each additional authorized user that you put on this credit card account. If you have two or three people using the credit card accounts in your family, then this annual fee is going to pop up very high. Be prepared for this ahead of time if you want to make use of this card.

That being said, the Mastercard Gold Card is very nice in many ways. You will be getting a short introductory APR period for balance transfers. For 45 days, you will not have to worry about interest on your balance transfers and that could potentially be nice. The APR after the introductory rate is reasonable on both balance transfers and new purchases so it can be a practical card to use.

The other fees that you can expect to see with this credit card are fairly standard. There is a 3% balance transfer fee with a $10 minimum. You will also have a 5% cash advance fee with a $10 minimum. On a positive note, there is no foreign transaction fee that you will have to worry about. This is fantastic for people who travel abroad frequently so keep that in mind if you like to spend time outside of the country.

Features of the Mastercard Gold Card

There honestly are not a lot of special features to consider with this card. There are many luxury benefits that we will discuss later but the features of this card are fairly standard. What is interesting and worth mentioning is the overall appearance of the credit card. If you like to have your credit cards look impressive, then this one is truly going to stand out among the other options on the market.

The Mastercard Gold Card credit card is 24K gold-plated and comes across as very fancy. It has a lot of weight to it as well and is one of the heavier credit cards out there. This is something that will garner some attention from people when you are using it. If you want to have a very impressive credit card, then the MasterCard Gold Card really does fit the bill nicely.

Other than that, this card is mostly going to be all about the benefits that you will receive. There is a small rewards program that is kind of nice too, though. It is mostly a luxury credit card that gives off an impressive vibe. The demographic for this credit card is going to be people who are fairly well off and are capable of justifying the high fees.

Benefits of the Mastercard Gold Card

There are quite a few benefits that you will be able to take advantage of when you are using this credit card. Most of the benefits are going to be related to travel and some of them are quite nice. There are luxurious benefits and ones that are a bit more practical in nature. Let’s start off by highlighting some of the benefits that can help to offset that high annual fee.

You will be receiving $200 in airline credits annually when you are a cardholder. These can be used to purchase airfare, to pay for baggage fees, or to buy drinks or other services while on flights. You just charge these expenses to your credit card and the charges will be credited back to your account when you still have credit to use. This is a convenient little perk that people will be able to get a lot of use out of.

You are also going to be able to apply for the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck programs for free. These programs can make your travel experience a significantly easier one. They will help you to get through the screening process more quickly so that you can simply enjoy your flight. The applications for these programs are typically $100 but the fee will be credited back to your account as a benefit of membership.

One benefit that frequent travelers will get a lot of use out of is the airport lounge access around the world. Being able to spend time in these luxurious lounges will make traveling that much nicer. You will even be able to bring an unlimited number of guests with you to the lounges so your traveling companions will be able to enjoy the benefits of being a cardholder as well. This is one of the perks that will likely help to sell you on becoming a cardholder.

Cardholders also have access to a very good 24/7 concierge service. You will be able to use the concierge service by calling them on the phone in a traditional way or through using a messaging app. These services have been made very easy to use and they can really be quite beneficial. If you like the idea of having constant access to a concierge service, then this will be a huge benefit of membership.

You will also receive certain VIP hotel and travel benefits. These benefits will range from hotel discounts to actual credits that you can use at luxury hotels. If you enjoy staying at luxury hotels while you are traveling, then this is going to be a perk that will come in handy. You can mitigate some of your costs while enjoying the VIP treatment at some of the best hotels in the world.

Rewards Program Info

The rewards program for this credit card is not as robust as many people would hope for it to be. You are going to be able to get 2% cash back on all of the purchases that you make. This is basically a pretty standard cash-back rate and is not anything that you will be writing home about. Even so, it is good to have access to rewards as they can help you to offset some of the costs of the card.

You can redeem the points that you have earned in a few different ways. The most lucrative way to redeem rewards while using this card is to redeem points as a statement credit. This will give you an effective 2% cash-back rate. Otherwise, you can choose to redeem your points for gift cards, hotels, car rentals, or other types of merchandise. Doing this will make the cash-back rate only 1% so it is smarter to stick with the statement credit.

The Pros

  • The benefits are luxurious.
  • The concierge service is very useful.
  • The card has a rewards program.
  • The card looks great.

The luxury benefits of this credit card might wind up blowing you away. There are some truly good benefits that will give you the VIP treatment at many of the finest hotels in the world. Being able to get into airport lounges while traveling is another helpful benefit. This card can really improve your traveling experience so it works well for people who travel in style.

Anyone who signs up for this card will love the concierge service too. This service is great and will help to make your life easier in various ways. They managed to make the concierge service very convenient for customers and you can use it frequently. You can simply chat through the messenger app to make requests or to get help with something.

The fact that a rewards program exists for this card is very nice as well. You will be able to earn rewards at an effective 2% cash-back rate. This can be handy when you use the credit card often enough. It is not the highest cash-back rewards percentage out there but it is still useful when taken in tandem with the other benefits that the card offers.

It is important to note just how good this card looks too. Anyone who wants to have an impressive credit card in his or her wallet will like this one. It is gold-plated and really feels as if it is a classy, luxurious item. If you like being able to impress others, then you just may want to have this credit card in your wallet.

mastercard gold card luxury card

The Cons

  • The annual fee is very high.
  • It has other associated fees to worry about.
  • The rewards program could be better for the money.

The high annual fee of $995 is going to be quite difficult for many people to justify. If you are worried about the annual fee, then this card may not be aimed at you. It is a luxury credit card that is going to offer many amazing travel benefits to cardholders. If you travel a lot and stay at luxury hotels, then the cost of this card is going to pay for itself over time.

Other associated fees may prove to be bothersome as well. You have a 3% balance transfer fee to think about and a 5% cash advance fee. These are fairly standard fees but they do still exist and may deter some people from applying for the card. Most people who want a luxury credit card will not scoff at these types of fees, though.

One disappointment is that the rewards program is not as lucrative as it could potentially be. If you want to get ample rewards from your credit card experience, then you may wish to look elsewhere. The rewards potential of this credit card is pretty much middling at best. 2% cash back is nothing to turn your nose at but it may not be quite enough for many people.

Credit Score Needed for Approval

In order to qualify for this credit card, you are going to need to have a high credit score. Try to make sure that you have a score in the excellent range if you want to add this card to your wallet. Scores in the high 700s will have better chances of being approved. Do your best to check your scores ahead of applying so that you will know your chances of approval and can avoid any disappointment.

Who Does the Gold Card Appeal to Most?

A credit card such as this is going to appeal to a few different types of people. The first type of person that this appeals to is someone who wants an impressive credit card. This card is gold-plated and looks very luxurious. It has a certain vibe that is going to match up well with the desires of many people who are seeking a high-end experience.

Those who want to have luxury travel perks will also love this card. It gets you access to airport lounges around the world and offers you many hotel benefits too. If you are a cardholder, then you will be able to make use of this card to improve your travel experience. It really does make a difference to be a cardholder so this makes sense for certain types of people.

Anyone who is worried about spending money will likely not want to apply for this card, though. If the thought of spending $995 on an annual fee worries you, then you likely are not the target demographic for this card. There are other options out there that offer similar perks that will come with more reasonable annual fees. Looking into your other options may be beneficial when you are very budget-conscious.

An Alternative Card to Consider

You may want to consider The Platinum Card from American Express as an alternative. This card offers similar rewards and travel benefits. Some may even find that the airport lounge selection is superior when compared to the MasterCard Gold Card. The annual fee for the Platinum Card from American Express is much more reasonable and you will still be able to enjoy luxurious rewards.

That being said, it is a better value in regards to travel benefits and rewards. Consider the factors that matter to you and make an informed decision.

First National Credit Card Review: Four Bank Cards to Consider

first national credit card

The First National Bank of Omaha is located throughout Texas, South Dakota, Kansas, Iowa, Colorado, Illinois, and Nebraska. This bank prides itself on being loyal to customers and offers four different credit cards. Each of the First National Bank Credit Cards offers different advantages to consumers. In this review, we will take a look at each First National credit card to help you decide which of the four could be right for you.

Platinum Edition Visa Card

The Platinum Edition Visa Card from the First National Bank may be right for you if you want to carry a balance on your card. For the initial 15 billing cycle, you will get an introductory 0% APR on balance transfers. After the introductory period is over, there will be an APR between 11.74% and 19.74% (variable). The APR on the card depends on your creditworthiness. If you have great credit, you will be able to get low APR on the Platinum Edition Visa Card.

The low APR will help you when you carry a balance on your credit card as you will be charged less in interest. However, it is important to note that you can only qualify for this First National credit card if your credit score is good or excellent. You should pay attention to the card’s balance transfer fee. The introductory fee for transferring the balance during the initial 15 billing cycles is 3% per transfer. However, after the introductory period is over, you’ll be charged a 5% fee on balance transfer.

Secured Visa Card

If you are trying to rebuild your credit score, the First National Bank Secured Visa Card could be the right option for you. If you get approved for this secured credit card, you can set a credit limit of your own. This limit can depend on the amount you deposit on the card as collateral. Limits on the Secured Visa Card range between $300 and $5,000.

You may be able to increase your limit on the card in a period of seven months without even making another deposit if you use your credit card and make timely, regular payments. Since the First National Bank reports card activity to the three major bureaus, the Secured Visa Card can help you rebuild your credit.

It is important for you to note that the money deposited for this First National credit card does not earn interest. Moreover, you cannot draw the cash you have deposited to open your account. If you want to withdraw the money, you would have to close your credit card account. The good thing about the Secured Visa Card is that there is no annual fee on it.

Since your activity with this First National credit card is reported to the three main credit bureaus, it is critical that you always make payments on time. Doing this will help you improve your credit. However, if you are late in making payments, it would reflect negatively on your credit report and your credit situation will worsen. If you maintain a good payment history on your Secured Visa Card, you may get your deposit back in a period of 11 months.

Complete Rewards Visa Card

If you have an account with the First National Bank, then this First National credit card could be a good option for you as it may help you earn good rewards. With the Complete Rewards Visa Card, you get cash back of 1% on all purchases. If you redeem your rewards into your bank’s checking, mortgage or savings account, you will earn an additional 1%. What this means is that it is possible for you to earn 2% cash back on your purchases with the Complete Rewards Visa Card. If these rewards are put towards the mortgage, cash back on the card goes towards paying down the principal amount. For other options, the cash back is directly deposited into your designated account. One of the good things about this First National credit card is that it comes without an annual fee.

If you’re after a great sign-up bonus, then you should know that the Complete Rewards Visa Card doesn’t offer an impressive sign-up bonus. On your first purchases during the initial three billing cycles, you will earn rewards that can be redeemed for $25 in gift cards, travel, merchandise or cash back. If you redeem the bonus into your mortgage, checking or savings account, that bonus increases to $50.

If you want to maximize your rewards on the Complete Rewards Visa Card, you should have a savings, a college savings, a mortgage or a checking account with the First National Bank. Otherwise, you won’t get a major reward. There is a zero-percent introductory APR offer on purchases for initial 12 billing cycle on this First National credit card. Make sure to capitalize on this offer by making a big-ticket purchase like a laptop or TV. During the introductory period, there is a variable APR between 17.74% and 24.74%.

First National Bank American Express Card

The First National Bank American Express Card could be a good option for you if you’re looking for great statement credits.  It offers 1.5 percent cash back on all purchases. Moreover, the rewards you earn on the card do not expire. If you spend a total of at least $500 in the initial 3 billing cycle, you get a $100 sign-up bonus. There is no annual fee on the First National Bank American Express Card while the APR is 20.74% (variable). Your cash back is credited to your statement whenever you earn a total of $25, so you have to wait to get the statement credit until you have earned $25. The balance transfer fee on this First National credit card is 5% (minimum $10) while the maximum late fee is $37.

One thing we don’t like about the First National Bank American Express Card is that there is no introductory APR. Other than that, it is a great credit card that can help you save a few bucks on your purchases.
